Solid Waste Service Change Update (October 2026)
Collection Day Updates
Your trash and/or recycling collection day might have changed.
- If your collection day was previously Friday, it has changed to Wednesday.
- If your collection day was previously Wednesday, it has changed to Tuesday.
Recycling Day Changes
Your recycling will still be picked up every other week, but we're doing things a little differently to make collection more efficient.
We've split the recycling collection in half, so some people will have their recycling collected on A Weeks and some people will have their recycling collected on B Weeks.
If you did not receive a letter or a sticker telling you about a change to your recycling pickup, your schedule has not changed.
We've updated the 2026 calendar(PDF, 3MB) to reflect the changes for the remainder of the year.
Holiday Schedule Updates
Beginning October 1, 2026, during holiday weeks, your trash pickup day will slide to one day later. Your carts will never be serviced earlier than your scheduled pickup day.
The first 2026 holiday affected by the new holiday slide is November 11, 2026 (Veterans Day)
Since that holiday falls on a Wednesday (November 11):
- Wednesday's pickup will slide to Thursday
- Thursday's pickup will slide to Friday
No other pickup days will be affected that week.
With the new schedule, you'll never be surprised by your pickup moving to an earlier day in the week.

Yard Waste Updates
Yard Waste (grass, leaves, small branches) may be:
- Placed in your gray cart for collection with your weekly trash pickup
- Placed in paper bags (up to 20 per pickup) to be collected by request (up to two times per month)
- Dropped off at the Cobbs Recycling Center or the City of Waco landfill (up to four times per year at no additional charge)
Brush (larger limbs and branches) may be:
- Placed in a pile at your curb (no larger than 4' x 4' x 4') to be collected by request (up to two times per month)
- Dropped off at the Cobbs Recycling Center or the City of Waco landfill (up to four times per year at no additional charge)
Green Yard Waste carts may be:
- Kept until October 1, 2027 for use as an additional gray cart at no additional charge
- Returned before October 1, 2027
- Kept beyond October 1, 2027 for use as an additional gray cart with the associated monthly charge
Residents will have until October 1, 2027 to make their choice.
