Due to the upcoming predicted low temperatures, the City of Waco and the Waco-McLennan County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will open the Waco Multi-Purpose Facility, 1020 Elm Ave., as a warming center to provide a safe and warm environment for individuals who may be at risk due to the extreme cold.
The center will be open from 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 through 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.
A heated indoor space, cots, blankets, meals ready-to-eat (MREs), and bottled water will be available on-site. Pets are welcome as long as they are crated. Support workers and security personnel will also be on-site to facilitate the operations of the center.
