Team Waco Brings Home Four Medals

Team Waco made a triumphant showing at the annual Games of Texas State Championship Meet, bringing back two gold medals and two bronze medals.

Gold medalists include Rahsiah English in the Shot Put (14U Boys) and Lauryn Kosel in the 100M (18U Girls). Bronze medals were earned by Max Rodriguez in the 800M (12U Boys) and Lauryn Kosel in the Long Jump (18U Girls).

Forty-seven of our Team Waco athletes traveled to Brownsville, TX to compete against more than 3,600 youth from across the state and showcase their skills. With 301 participants in our summer track program this year and more than 100 who qualified for the state meet, it has been an unforgettable season.

Team Waco Champions:

  • Jae’viona Stafford (10U Girls): 100M, 7th Place
  • Max Rodriguez (12U Boys): 800M, Bronze Medal
  • Jordan Ihry (12U Girls): 400M, 7th Place and 800M, 4th Place
  • Rahsiah English (14U Boys): Shot Put, Gold Medal
  • Halo Vasquez (16U Boys): 800M, 16th Place
  • Fabiola Prieto (16U Girls): 800M, 4th Place
  • Elijah Williams (18U Boys): 300MH, 7th Place and Triple Jump, 4th Place
  • Lauryn Kosel (18U Girls): 100M, Gold Medal and 200M, 4th Place and Long Jump, Bronze Medal

Before the Games of Texas, athletes had to qualify at the regional track meet, an event Waco Parks & Recreation organized and hosted for more than 1,600 athletes in regions 5 and 11.
