It’s the season for getting rid of things that are just taking up space! City of Waco Solid Waste can help you safely dispose of just about anything.

Bulky Waste Pickup

Solid Waste Crew loading trash bags in truck If we pick up your trash and recycling, we’ll pick up your bulky waste one time every month.

  1. Submit a request online or call (254) 299-2606 to request a bulky waste pickup at no additional charge.
  2. Place your bulky waste at the curb.
  3. Make sure the pile is no larger than 6’x6’x6’ and that you put five feet between the pile and any objects like trees and mailboxes.

If the pile doesn’t meet the requirements, we’ll contact you with an estimated fee to pick up the items.

Yard Waste Pickup

Leaves in paper bags on the curb next to a green trash bin Spring cleaning means major yard work and gardening too! The City of Waco picks up green bins every other week, but lots of people don’t know we’ll pick up more than that. In addition to your carts, you can create a brush pile no larger than 4’x4’x4’ or use up to 20 paper yard waste bags for leaves and clippings.

Just place the brush on the curb and be sure to put five feet between brush piles and any objects like trees and mailboxes. Unlike bulky waste pickups, you don't need to submit a request. We'll pick up your brush pile or paper yard waste bags on the same day we pick up your green bin.

Resident Drop Off

Aerial view of Cobbs Recycling Center If we pick up your trash and recycling, you can bring items to the Cobbs Recycling Center or the Landfill four times a year at no additional charge.

Bring bulky items or yard waste to the Cobbs Recycling Center during business hours and drop them off for safe disposal. Bulky and brush loads should not exceed 6’x6’x6’ or about a full-sized pickup truck load.

If you’ve got more to haul, take it to the Landfill! Residents can drop off up to one ton (2,000 pounds) free of charge.

Bring your items, your current Waco utility bill (print or electronic), and a photo ID.

What If I Live In An Apartment?

If you rent at a property that pays your bills, bring your lease and your photo ID to get access to residential benefits. You can also check with your apartment management to see if they have a spot for bulky waste on-site.

Where Do I Put...?

Mattresses and Furniture: Schedule a Bulky Waste Pickup or you can drop it off the Cobbs Recycling Center or the Landfill.

Glass: If you’ve got glass bottles and jars, find one of our purple glass bins or take it to Cobbs Recycling Center.

Appliances: Take household appliances to Cobbs Recycling Center. Appliances with Freon can also be disposed at Cobbs Recycling Center or the Landfill for a $15 fee.

Plastic Bags: Take the plastic bags back to the store and drop them off there for recycling.

Clothes: Take gently used clothes to any of the local donation centers. Clothes that can’t be donated could be turned into rags, stuffing or something more creative!

Books: Gently used books can be donated to the Friends of the Waco-McLennan Library for resale in the annual book sale. The proceeds benefit the library! Books that are damaged or dirty can’t be resold or recycled, so think about upcycling or put them in your gray bin.

Medications: Many area pharmacies take back over-the-counter and prescription medications. If you need to dispose of needles or syringes, put them in a rigid plastic container (like a shampoo bottle) before putting them in the trash.
