Josh Borderud, Andrea Barefield, and Jim Holmes getting sworn into City Council

The City of Waco welcomed former District 5 Councilmember, Jim Holmes, as the City's new mayor on Tuesday, May 14.

Jim Holmes has served Waco City Council since 2016 and brings more than 35 years of financial management experience to City Council.

Holmes said, “We need to focus on infrastructure, sidewalks and streets. We need to make sure we keep investing in those parts and we need to keep up the economic development.”

The meeting also saw the return of Councilmembers Andrea Barefield and Josh Borderud, who were each re-elected for another two-year term representing Districts 1 and 3, respectively.
