The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has started the major four-year expansion project on Interstate 35. Construction started in February 2025 and will run through early 2029. The project will focus on the stretch between 12th Street and Highway 6.
The $234 million project will upgrade three miles of I-35 and will result in:
The Valley Mills Drive crossing will see the biggest change with the removal of the northbound flyover.
This project follows the successful completion of the I-35 Waco north section between North Loop 340 and 12th Street, which was finished in November 2022. Once completed, this project will mark the final piece of the I-35 reconstruction project through Waco.
During construction, please be sure to drive carefully and obey all traffic signs. We appreciate your patience as these improvements will benefit drivers for years to come.
