Construction is making steady progress on Fire Station #15! The foundation for the living quarters and bay of the new station were recently poured, and the steel structure is starting to go up.

Fire Station SiteThe new fire station will be an approximately 8,000 square-foot structure with a three-bay setup, individual sleeping quarters that can accommodate up to eight fire personnel per shift, large washing machines that can clean the firefighters' gear, apparatus exhaust removal systems, and decontamination areas available before entering the station.

Fire Station #15 will serve the West Waco neighborhood, which has seen rapid residential growth in recent years. When the station opens, it will be fully staffed with one captain, two lieutenants, three engineers, and six firefighters. A minimum of three personnel will be on duty daily. The new facility will help reduce response times, ensuring the department is available to handle emergencies of all kinds and help maintain the six-minute national standard for getting a fire truck on scene.

On Tuesday, January 9, the City of Waco hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the construction of Fire Station #15 at Panther Way and Ritchie Road in West Waco. The $5.46 million project is expected to be complete in Spring 2025.
