Eichelberger Bridge Update

Eichelberger Bridge is Closed

Due to extreme flooding from recent storms from late spring and into June, the Eichelberger Bridge was closed due to overflow from the North Bosque River. Floodwaters covered roads and bridges for nearly two months, depositing large amounts of debris throughout the area. Although the river has receded, the Public Works Department is still hard at work to ensure the integrity of the bridge before opening.

The work below will take several more months to complete as we ensure the bridge’s safety for the public and we appreciate your patience.

Tasks still to be completed:

  • Haul-off of remaining silt
  • Re-grade ditches so the road can continue to drain and dry out properly
  • Repair of the roadway
  • Removal of the log jam upstream from the Eichelberger Bridge
  • Final engineering evaluation of the bridge and structure
