(Courtesy of Texas A&M)Caring for the earth starts with smart purchases. Begin with the end in mind – when you're finished with a product, what will happen to it?
One way to conserve the earth and our community's resources is to donate your used items to a local charity!
Goodwill, Salvation Army, Caritas, Habitat for Humanity's ReStore, Mission Waco, Family Abuse Center and several others can all take your gently used items and turn them into support for their worthy programs. Check your phone book under 'Charitable Organizations' or 'Thrift Shops'.
Another way to handle excess "stuff" is through Freecycle.
Earth911 has information on local recycling options, searchable by zip code.
