Engineering Day, October 15th
This year, Engineering Day 2013 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15th at the Waco Convention Center, co-sponsored by the City of Waco Engineering Department. Over the past years, the attendance has grown from approximately 750 students and 24 firms, to over 2,000 students and 3 dozen firms, colleges, and state agencies. The support from local engineers and the participation of the schools in the county continues to exceed all expectations.
We have had over 4,000 students attend in the first four years. The purpose of Engineering Day is to generate interest in our field with students at a time when they start to look at career choices. We have reserved the same room as last year with the hope that we can continue to broaden the spectrum of engineering disciplines, adding environmental and construction exhibits, and increase student participation. We are beginning the process of compiling the layout and coordinating the exhibiter needs. (For power needs, please bring extension cords; tables, chairs, etc.)
There are no costs for the exhibitors or the students. We have reserved the McLennan Room in the Waco Convention Center for Tuesday, October 15th. The start approximately at 8:30 a.m. and run until 4 p.m.
Engineering designs and inspects all City of Waco funded construction done in public right-of-way. This would include streets, water, sewer, drainage and sidewalks, etc. We also review plans for and inspect privately funded construction in the right-of-way.
