Hours: Monday-Saturday, various hours. Must be able to work overtime.
Remove and transport solid waste materials from city residents, businesses, and various other locations for commercial or residential container service. Maintain vehicle by recommending repairs, conducting pre and post trip inspections, and maintaining appropriate fluid levels. Operate mechanical equipment related to the specific area of assignment. Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor and walk diverse terrains. Clean, care, and perform maintenance on tools and equipment assigned to the position. Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Keep facilities and yard clean and orderly. Follow City and departmental policies and procedures. Perform related duties as assigned. Exposed to extreme heat, cold, rain, humidity, wetness, hazardous chemicals, insects, dust, poisonous plants, unpleasant smells, fumes, traffic hazards, and physical stress from exertion. Some incumbents may have contact with buried electric, phone, or television cable lines. This position follows DOT guidelines.
REQUIRED:
Drivers License: Valid Class B Texas CDL
Education: Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency. Must have the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Experience: Two years experience operating light or heavy equipment required.
Certifications: No certifications required.
Testing: No testing required.
Physical Demands: Medium
