Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
Manage the operation of the Fleet Services Division by preparing and administering operating budgets; monitoring the quality of services provided by the division; defining goals and objectives; facilitating the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; preparing and distributing management reports. Ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of city vehicles and equipment by initiating and monitoring repairs and verifying that all authorized work is completed correctly. Maintain communications with city departments about maintenance and repair activities in a manner that promotes efficient services to citizens. Provide quality customer service to all city departments. Manage Vehicle Fleet operations by: analyzing the life cycle of equipment and its replacement; managing usage of fuels, oils, and parts; maintaining preventive maintenance, mobile repair, and fueling service programs; and ensuring state and federal regulations are correctly applied to fleet management operations. Perform supervisor functions by: interviewing, selecting, training, evaluating, disciplining, developing, and discharging staff; provide staff with the resources, equipment, tools, and knowledge necessary to perform and improve services; and guide employee work efforts in being successful, creative and resourceful within their decision making responsibilities. Must follow city and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure employees are trained and work in accordance with the Safety Plan, Department Safety Plan, and applicable laws and regulations. Possess basic understanding of safe work practices for employees. Perform other related duties as assigned. Normally works in a climate controlled indoor environment. May be exposed to dust, loud noises, vibrations, fumes and odors, wetness/humidity, darkness or poor lighting when working outdoors or in a shop environment.
Drivers License: Valid Class C Texas DL
Education: Bachelor's degree in an area of specialty or in a related field is required (two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of required education).
Experience: Five years previous work experience in an area of specialty or in a related setting. Experience in management of fleet maintenance operations is preferred.
Certifications: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification desired.
Testing: No testing required.
